Thousands of years of ago there were people that presumed that they knew it all and started to build their own empire. In the Bible there is a story of the Tower of Babel. (Genesis 11) In researching the Word Babel, it was a city in Shinar where the building of a tower is held.
Babel means a confusion of voices.
Today, nothing remains but a watering hole. The Tower was said to be almost 100 meters tall and was dedicated to Babylon's own God, Marduk. The people assumed that they knew best and that they tried to reach their god with building their own empire. Today there is a confusion of many voices. Some from the enemy, our own thoughts and some from the Lord God. Now today it may look a little different, but many people in the world, including “the church” are building their own empires and are not led by the Holy Spirit. God is real and he will NOT tolerate the worship of false idols or the pride of man to continue.
Eventually they will all fall like the Tower of Babel. We must not presume God wants this or that and move in the flesh, and be prideful, but allow God to direct our paths and have him judge and deal with the hearts of man and to work everything out in his timing.
Pride does come before the fall.
( Proverbs 16:18) Even though things in the world and people that aren’t walking with God around us may appear to be not touched, God does see all and knows all and is giving people an opportunity to repent and turn from their false idols. But take heed, the time will come that every false idol will be toppled down and be crushed to the ground. Another example, the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar suffered from a mental illness, and lived in isolation for seven years, until he acknowledged the power of the one God. He was prideful and God humbled himself. You can read more about Nebuchadnezzar's Story in the in 2 Kings 24, 25; 2 Chronicles 36; Jeremiah 21-52; and Daniel 1-4 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 1Peter 5:6 NIV
Father God, we come to you today and ask for forgiveness for being prideful and presuming we know what is best. We surrender to your ways and ask that you Holy Spirit would help lead us and guide us in directing our path. I humble myself before you Father and pray that you would fill me today with your wisdom and revelation to direct my path in my life and for others. In Jesus name, Amen.
Trees are represented throughout the Word of God and symbolize many things. One night during prayer and Intercession, I began to see a large group of willow trees near the water. I began to research the willow tree and found that they need to be near water to grow and as they grow their roots upward. I saw the willow trees as the Intercessors weeping over the list and dying world. As his daughters and sons we need to be in community and pray, travail and weep over the souls that are lost. We continue to grow as we unite together by the oasis of the water.
They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank. Isaiah 44:4
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:3
I was reminded in the psalm that says a person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither, whatever they do prospers. As we are planted near water we begin to grow and flourish. When we trust the Lord and have our confidence in him we will grow in leaps and bounds. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
Prayer: Lord, I want to sit by the banks of your River and be planted by the water and be filled with your presence. I trust in you today, that you are my confidence! Pray through me Holy Spirit and give me a heart of prayer and Intercession for the lost and dying world. Awaken the Intercessors to pray without ceasing and to not give up until we see revival in our cities! In Jesus name we pray.
Water is something we need to survive, without it we become dehydrated and eventually perish. In the Word of God, it says, where there’s no vision, people perish! What does that mean? A person may be living each day and have no hope of anything for tomorrow if they can’t see or dream!
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish.
God showed me a vision as an example of who he is and to encourage the body of Christ to refresh us with his Living water! Praise the Lord we can turn to the Word of God and get refreshed with the Living water and be filled! Jesus is LIFE! When we drink of him we will never run dry. The water he gives us is like that spring from the well. For out of your belly will flow rivers of living water. John 7:38 But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14
Recently during a time of cooperate prayer, I began to see in the spirit a stream of water flowing from a high place into a narrow canal, running deep into a root system, as the water flowed it came to a place where the water began to bubble up like a bubbling fountain. Next, I began to see a tall mountain with a large waterfall with flowing water and below there was a pool that was clear and still. The pool was still and calm, like the still waters of Psalm23. The pool was a healing pool where the Lord was inviting his people to jump in and be healed.
John 7:38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’
When we believe IN HIM, the flowing of his spirit is moving within us and there are no stagnant waters. The Lord is with there, if you are thirsty and call upon his name he will answer you! When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the Lord will answer them; I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. Isaiah 41:17-18
Living in a desert myself, it is a place where it is dry. The Lord is preparing his bride to drink if the water and be filled with HIM so we can fill others! Get ready for he wants to use every available vessel! Pour yourself out to him today and allow the fresh in filling of his spirit to OVERFLOW through you!!
Prayer: Holy Spirit I want to know you in a deeper way. I’m asking for you to pour into the dry places of my heart, flush away all debris and blockages and fill my heart to OVERFLOW with your presence! I want to abide in you and stay by the River of life to drink of your presence. Bubble up within me and refresh me and others with your spirit! I’m going to jump in the calm still waters and be made whole! I thank you for your presence Holy Spirit and your abiding love that is filling me NOW Renew fresh vision and hope to your people Father God, in Jesus name, Amen
The Word Vengeance is found throughout scripture and I found one particular word “absolute’ describing vengeance. Isn’t that just like God? He is the Great I am, the same yesterday, today and forever and the Alpa and Omega. He is the ABSOLUTE God!
Romans 12:19 KJV “Dearly Beloved, avenge not yourselves but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written,Vengeance is mine: I will repay, saith the Lord. Avenge seeks retribution on behalf of somebody else, whereas revenge seeks retribution for yourself. Retribution is a reward or punishment. God is a THE REWARDER of those that diligently seek him. Jesus wants to be your vindicator and do for you that only HE can do!
Psalm 75:7 Bur God is Judge; He puts down one and exalts another.
Genesis 39:5 It came about that from the time he made him overseer in his house and over all that he owned, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house on account of Joseph; thus the Lord’s blessing was upon all that he owned, in the house and in the field.
Joseph was the least amongst his brothers and was favored by his father. His brothers took him and threw him in a pit and was sold into slavery into Pharaoh’s house. All Joseph wanted to do was to love his family and share his dreams. Even in the palace, he was wronged and thrown into prison for an accusation of making moves on the King’s wife, which Joseph did not commit. But God ,took what the enemy meant for harm and turned things around for his good eventually in God’s timing bringing FULL restoration and retribution into his life. I’m sure Joseph didn’t always have a good attitude about "being in prison” and probably murmured and complained “it’s not fair God”. But at JUST the RIGHT TIMING God showed up and didn’t forget the promises he made to Joseph.
In Samuel 24, you will find the story of David, I will paraphrase some of the story. David was another man who was wrongly accused and spoken against. He was a young boy in the shepherds field tending to the sheep and one day Samuel the prophet of GOD came to the field, looking for the next king. David was overlooked UNTIL God pointed him out to Samuel and he was appointed by God. It took many years before that promise would come into fruition. David served King Saul and was wronged many times until he had to flee his presence without getting killed. One day God spoke to David and said he was going to deliver Saul into his hands and David even cut off the corner of Saul’s robe when he was asleep. David so wanted to honor God and NOT take things into his own hands even though he was wronged against and ultimately God did vindicate him! David said “There is neither evil nor rebellion in my hand”
God is NOT evil, but ALWAYS GOOD. We as his children are called to be imitators of Christ. ( Ephesians 5:1) The Bible says to abstain from every form of evil.(1Thessalonians 5:22) WHAT IS EVIL? How we think about evil is different than what God thinks about evil. Evil is from the enemy satan and GOODNESS is from God, which is also one of the fruit of the spirit. God says that every GOOD and perfect gift comes from Above NOT Below. God is looking for those with a pure heart. For the Word says, Those with a pure heart will see God. Way back at the beginning of the Bible, the BOOK OF GENESIS, God set in place his directions for what was evil.
Genesis 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “ Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat,”but of the tree of the knowledge of GOOD and EVIL you shall NOT eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
FRET NOT Fret not, but Trust in the Lord. (Psalm 37:1-40) God told David to FRET NOT because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do GOOD: dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. For God will bring EVERY deed into judgment with every secret thing, whether GOOD or EVIL. ( Ecclesiastes 12:4) In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous Judge, will sward to me THAT day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved HIS appearing. SO have HOPE that God is moving and working all things out. For he is a God that SEES. just like the woman Hagaar was thrown into the desert heartbroken and beaten down. She cried out to God and he SAW her! He is Jehovah El-Roi. He sees all of your pain, your hurts, your good and evil in your heart and he is longing for you to turn it ALL over to him and surrender your life to him completely.
Father in the name of Jesus, I come to you with a sincere heart and I ask that you would create in me a clean heart and renew in me a right spirit. Cleanse me with your blood and forgive me of every defilement of my body, soul and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God. Bless me Lord and purify my heart for I want to see you clearly. Let your love abound with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent and be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. Cleanse the eyes of my heat and purify all things. You are my vindicator and you bring vengeance to the wrongs that have been brought against me. I release all people in my life to you and i choose to forgive them. You have laid up the crown of righteousness for me and you are the righteous Judge. I thank you Lord for my life and I trust you in all things knowing you are working all things out for my good for those that love you and are called according to your purposes. I love you Abba Father,Jesus and Holy Spirit and I thank you that you are the orchestrator of my life in Jesus name I pray these things. AMEN!
Blessings in Christ,
Happy Good Friday!
Today was a day, thousands of years of ago that Jesus died on the cross. He was strong, focused and resilient! He took the beatings from the Roman soldiers, thorns were placed on his head and was nailed to a cross, he was pierced in his side! Jesus was focused on the will of the Father for his life. He kept on going and didn’t quit when the going got tough. We are called to be imitators of Christ. Now we may not be called to suffer on the cross, but as believers we all are or will be walking through time of pain and suffering in one way or another. We need the Spirit of God to help us walk through things daily to not become hardened to life! So be strong in the Lord and the power of HIS might! Lean into Jesus today and grab hold of his resilient power! For greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world!
God bless you!
God, I want more of You.
Too often, I choose to pursue momentary things and push You aside. Please forgive me, and change me. I don’t want to live a life that isn’t focused on You.
As I prepare for Resurrection Sunday, help me to silence the noise in my life. Show me what steps I need to take to refocus my heart, mind, and will on You alone.
Search my heart, and know me. Clean out my life, point out anything that offends You, and make me more like You. Show me the paths that lead to life, and fill me with joy in Your presence.
I love You, and I want to fix my eyes on You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Imagine a classic summertime backyard barbecue. Can you smell the burgers, brats and baby back ribs on the grill? Maybe you’ll cap the night with a classic marshmallow roast over an open fire.
Now imagine you have just one minor problem…you don’t have any teeth! You’ll miss out on the char-grilled delicacies because you haven’t matured to a place where you have what’s necessary to enjoy them.
Our spiritual lives can be just like this! We can stagnate and miss out on opportunities because we haven’t matured.
You see, God not only showers us with a Father’s blessing, He invites us to grow up by modeling our lives after Him. With our new identity and spiritual DNA, we’re called to grow up to be like our Heavenly Dad. As Ephesians 5:1 puts it: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.”
We’re invited and called to be like our Father. We look up to Him and notice how He does things – the way He talks, moves, and answers. We put our feet in His footsteps.
What’s incredible is that God hasn’t left us on our own to figure out what to do; He gives us His Holy Spirit’s power to lead and guide us. As a perfect Father, God participates in our lives. He’s saying to you and me, “Here, let Me show you how to do that.”
Here are three markers to think about, to aim for, as we imitate Him and grow into spiritual maturity.
1. Awaken: to who we are and whose we are. As the popular worship anthem says, we’re no longer slaves….to abandonment, fear, unworthiness, insecurity, abuse, addiction, dread, comparison, or loneliness…we are children of God!
2. Accept: the implications of our new genetic makeup. We throw off the sin and old ways of life and run toward the new and good things God is calling us to do.
3. Adopt: the behavior and character of God. Study how God moves and works. Devour his Word. Talk with him. Emulate the pattern of his ways.
You have been adopted by a perfect, loving Father—now go be like Dad!
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
Psalm 100 - A Psalm of Thanksgiving.
'O Lord my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me, Lest they tear me like a lion, Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver. O Lord my God, if I have done this: If there is iniquity in my hands, If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, Or have plundered my enemy without cause, Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; Yes, let him trample my life to the earth, And lay my honor in the dust. Selah Arise, O Lord , in Your anger; Lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; Rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded! So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You; For their sakes, therefore, return on high. The Lord shall judge the peoples; Judge me, O Lord , according to my righteousness, And according to my integrity within me. Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. My defense is of God, Who saves the upright in heart. God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day. If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He bends His bow and makes it ready. He also prepares for Himself instruments of death; He makes His arrows into fiery shafts. Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity; Yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood. He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made. His trouble shall return upon his own head, And his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown. I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.' Psalms 7:1-17
