Presumption and Pride!

Thousands of years of ago there were people that presumed that they knew it all and started to build their own empire. In the Bible there is a story of the Tower of Babel. (Genesis 11) In researching the Word Babel, it was a city in Shinar where the building of a tower is held.

Babel means a confusion of voices.

Today, nothing remains but a watering hole. The Tower was said to be almost 100 meters tall and was dedicated to Babylon's own God, Marduk. The people assumed that they knew best and that they tried to reach their god with building their own empire. Today there is a confusion of many voices. Some from the enemy, our own thoughts and some from the Lord God. Now today it may look a little different, but many people in the world, including “the church” are building their own empires and are not led by the Holy Spirit. God is real and he will NOT tolerate the worship of false idols or the pride of man to continue.

Eventually they will all fall like the Tower of Babel. We must not presume God wants this or that and move in the flesh, and be prideful, but allow God to direct our paths and have him judge and deal with the hearts of man and to work everything out in his timing.

Pride does come before the fall.

( Proverbs 16:18) Even though things in the world and people that aren’t walking with God around us may appear to be not touched, God does see all and knows all and is giving people an opportunity to repent and turn from their false idols. But take heed, the time will come that every false idol will be toppled down and be crushed to the ground. Another example, the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar suffered from a mental illness, and lived in isolation for seven years, until he acknowledged the power of the one God. He was prideful and God humbled himself. You can read more about Nebuchadnezzar's Story in the in 2 Kings 24, 25; 2 Chronicles 36; Jeremiah 21-52; and Daniel 1-4 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 1Peter 5:6 NIV

Prayer
Father God, we come to you today and ask for forgiveness for being prideful and presuming we know what is best. We surrender to your ways and ask that you Holy Spirit would help lead us and guide us in directing our path. I humble myself before you Father and pray that you would fill me today with your wisdom and revelation to direct my path in my life and for others. In Jesus name, Amen.
